Hi readers! It's been a long time since I blog....therefore I'm now blogging:) Well aniway, this past few days(actually juz 3 days ago), I was attending a camp. It's not an ordinary camp, it's a camp to change life. The camp title was "Super Heroes & Super friends" and it was been done with De La Salle School(resides around Choa Chu Kang area).
Aniway, the camp actually so called started on sun night whereby the superheroes(aka Coaches) were doing their training session. We played games and give in our 100% so as to make the kids fun and happy!Oh well, we still got many more to go. I remember sleeping around 3am on that day...and after that woke up around 5am due to Indian music(it's super irritating la! But it serve as a good alarm clock alright). Next, we got ourself ready to pick up the kids from De La Salle school. I took the group no 10. They were a bunch of good kids I would say. In the beginning, they didn't seem to bond that well, it was only at later part of the day they did a good bonding session.
Ok we had done lots of activity on the first day such as postman walk, slippery slope, battleship etc. Our group, however, was been detained about 1/2hr due to some misbehaviour they had done. This is indeed a good time to teach them a good lesson. So me and Fiq(my partner) decided to teach them some good values using this chance. After the reflection, it started to rain(which further spoil the mood of the kids) and we had started to share our life stories with the kids. Daryl, one of the APD(Assistant Programme Director) had also come in to share his life story with the kids. Boy if he didn't share, I didn't know he had such a background man. I shall not further tell on this story.
Aniway, when the rain stop, we continue our games. When night comes, we played super heroes identity which teaches them the importance of keeping their identity as this represent their goals and dreams of their life. Then the kids went to sleep while the superheroes had their debrief. It's time for night shift but it's not my turn yet so I can had my good night sleep...seriously needed.
The next day arrived and thus we start our day out to do a final showdown with the most vicious villian in the camp, Dr Do Evil. You see, Dr Do Evil represents all the bad habit that we possess such as laziness. So we had various battlestation which is to search for the sercet ingridient to battle Dr Do Evil and we won! At night, the group had perform their talentime and it was so good! Shawn(my mirror group coach) was the coordinator that teaches the kids the dance moves and 1 word to described it...whoa! Then, the highlight began. The principal, Charles(at least I think that's his name) was there to give in their graduation night talk. He talks about the story of the 4 candles. It really touches my heart and makes me think...why my primary school didn't have such a thing man...Aniway, I had debrief my group for the last time.
Last day arrived and it's time for the kids to go home. Well, they did their last task of the day which is to write out their appreciations. As for me,well I received some of the appreciations from my group and hey I was quite touche actually. Even thou some time I had make my kids tough by giving them punishment(which I never carry out due to the time limitation), I'm really appreciated that they r still giving me that card. I did my last farewell with them in their school bus before they depart to school.
Really, if there was a choice to repeat this camp, I will glady do it once again as it really impact the life of my students. BTW, this camp was actually organised by Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group(AKLTG), the one Adam Khoo set up orh...Whoa I finally got my dream come true of being part of this wonderful team. I remembered Adam Khoo coming down personally 3 years ago to my secondary school and it had really impacted on my life. Wish I can do more of this camp so that I changes many more lifes!
